Cuyahoga Falls: Travel Guide

Lookin for a cute weekend getaway? WELL look no further!! This year for Labor Day I visited a cute town only 2 hours from Pittsburgh, Cuyahoga Falls! One of my good friends from college lives there (& was celebrating her birthday) so it was the perfect fit for this long weekend.

We kicked the weekend off my meeting at her sister’s salon, VIVO Beauty Bar. I got a quick lip wax and checked out their accessories before heading to our evening destination. This full-service salon is AMAZING for anyone local or visiting. They do full body waxing, hair color/cut/styling, nails, bridal makeup and more! And can we even with how cute it is??

For the evening we decided on a local winery, Sarah’s Vineyard and Winery. You could order a carafe or glass of wine and walk through the vineyard while waiting to be seated. Once seated we ordered one of their wood-fired pizzas and is was BOMB. It was Margherita but didn’t look like a traditional version, more modern with all the ingredients chopped up under the cheese. SO YUMMY!

The next morning we went to the cutest coffee shop for breakfast, called Nervous Dog. They have beans you can fill up to go and take home and they have a delivery service so you can get beans/grounds shipped directly to you one-time or on a subscription basis. So PA folks you can enjoy the yummy coffee blends too 😏. Linking their order site here!

During the day on Sunday we went to a friend’s cottage on Twin Lakes and had a cookout by the dock. You could kayak, paddle boat or just float around in the lake. It was so beautiful and peaceful! Oh and we had to stop for Swenson’s later that night 😂

Labor Day (& my friend’s birthday) started off with a PSL and a chilly walk at The George Metro Park. We explored the park for 2 hours to find the one waterfall and it was totally worth the hike… UNTIL the sky let out a torrential downpour. Thunder and lightning was everywhere so we ran our way out of the park and took shelter under Mary Campbell Cave for a few minutes before we just made a break for it.

For lunch we went to Upper Deck, an outdoor bar in Akron but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate with our plans. We still had fun celebrating and enjoying the great food. Seriously there wasn’t anything on the menu that someone wasn’t raving about. I went with the grilled shrimp tacos, buffalo chicken dip and a house marg. I’ll def have to make a return visit next time to enjoy the outdoor space right on the lake and the live bands on the different stages.

I know it seemed like I did SOOOO much, but there’s still so much I didn’t get to do like go to Hope Soap, Pav’s Creamery & HiHO Brewery just to name a few! Don’t worry I’ll be back 😉 I hope you think about taking a little getaway to this cute town and check out some of my recommendations! Let me know if you do!
