THE PERFECT PITTSBURGH DAY part 5 – a series with mini itineraries for a perfect day in Pittsburgh! Great for when you have out of town visitors or are looking for a day of fun in our little city.
One of the neighborhoods I have known since I was a little girl, Oakmont. There is no time like now to check out this charming, small town. With the 125th U.S. Open Golf Championship coming back to the Oakmont Country Club in June, I thought I’d shed some light on the fun things to do year round in Oakmont!

FIRST STOP: Breakfast & coffee at The Lot At Edgewater or Curbside On The Run! If you want a sit down meal go to The Lot & if you want a grab & go situation go to Curbside. Both are absolutely incredible breakfast spots from the food offerings to the coffee bevs. The Lot has a patio (heated during the winter) & a nice indoor area with a full bar for brunch cocktails. My go-to order here is their crab cakes Benedict & an iced latte (+ Bailey’s if I’m feeling wild) & it never disappoints. Curbside is the perfect spot for grab & go brekky. Their Speecy Spicy breakfast sandwich on a croissant & whatever delicious iced coffee specials they have are what I go for. Owner Kylee & her crew are the absolute BEST. Note: Curbside is NOT open on weekends so make this a stop only if it’s a weekday adventure.

NEXT STOP(S): Up & down the boulevard you will find adorable boutiques & shops perfect for perusing. Some of my faves are Urbanä, OliviaGrace & Co., Embroidery From The Heart, & Oakmont Candle Works! One new spot on my radar is Roots To Petals, a floral shop & arrangement studio.

LAST STOP: It would be a trip to Oakmont without visiting the renowned Oakmont Bakery! Oakmont bakery has been a staple in my family since I was born. With cookie trays, cupcakes, donuts, tortes & of course the iconic signature Oakmonter (half devils food cake half cheesecake) this bakery is a MUST visit. It is currently paczki season which are essentially overfilled donuts & their raspberry jelly is my fave. Their dolces are incredible because they are mini versions of a few of their larger cakes & tortes so you can share to try a couple! FYI when you pull a number it will seem like the wait will be long but it goes QUICK. They are a well-oiled machine at the bakery!
